    Update 2:
I recently moved to another apartment in another building, with a small private storage room for each apartment at the                              bottom floor. I was a bit wary at first since it will put the knife in close proximity to other people and their pets (nevermind the                    thick cement that separates it from everyone) but it seemed better than to keep it in the house.
I made a small experiment with my own dog, and it seems that when the storage's door is closed, she does mind it as much                    as before, but she's still reluctant to come near the door, and so do some other dogs from the little I managed to observe.
Maybe its the thick cement or the storage door being made of thick iron. Maybe whatever it is in the knife feels better in this                    semi-grave-like environment. It was found in a cemetery after all...
    Update
: I stored it under my bed in a box so I can easily access the knife for when its sold.
Ever since I often get a strange dream in which I am wandering in the Desert, feeling quite lost and very thirsty. This occurs
several times each night. I don't like this dream but I'm trying to figure out how long this can last. I tried one day to store the
knife somewhere else and that night there were no dreams. Strange.
My grandfather found this knife lying on the
    ground of a
    cemetery
in his hometown, Basra (about 500 km south of Baghdad) when he was a teenager at the beginning of the previous century, while he was making a regular shortcut on his way to school.
The cemetery, according to his stories, was haunted by ghosts, usually the same two ghosts who would "sit on the tombstones and giggle in manace" (that's a direct quote from my grandfather).
The knife was later used by my grandfather to defend his family from the Muslim mob during the Farhud, on his long way with my grandmother when they escaped Iraq to Israel at 1947, on the Israeli independence war at 1948 and until the mid 50's.
I was promised by him to receive it when I grow up ever since I was a child, and I did, back when I was 16 (17 years ago) and he thought I'm "mature enough to deal with that thing", with the warning that I should use it wisely or not at all.
I never actually used it because it always made me feel strange when holding it, like a small unpleasant tingle in my hand and a sense of panic. Even now I hold it only with working gloves.
I forgot about it for some time and recently found it in my garage while looking for something, and immediately my dog and the neighbor's dog started barking. It happens every time I take it out of the box.
Taking the photos was not easy either, and my dog is still scared to be near where the knife is.
The marker dots (its not mold, I checked) just appeared on the hilt.
