This auction is for a great vintage, if not antique mute for brass instrument ~ perfect for collectors and decorators!  This and other items we now have listed have been purchased at recent rural Kansas estate auctions. This listing:

I know nothing about these, so please aske questions if I left out something that needs to be included
this mute is marked New Stone Lined Cup Mute
by Humes & Berg of Chicago
it stands approximately 7 inches tall and is right at 4 inches in diameter at widest point
I do NOT know what instrument it was designed for
some bends
has three corks applied to the pointed end
I am not sure what it is made of but it is NOT metal
has rivets up the edge to ole in place
someone has written SKID in red on the side
it is red and white in color
dusty due to years of storage
estate sale find
I am guessing that it dates to the 1940s or 50s
estate find
color shade is accurate on my monitor
straight from the auction
no odors noted
